Probably because the chapters that were supposed to be from his POV still felt like they were from someone else’s perspective. It was very hard for me to connect with him. The most inconvenient thing about this book was that I didn’t like the main character (if I could even call him that), Harry. “Some people stand by you in your darkest hour, while others walk away only a select few march toward you and become even closer friends.” I also genuinely felt sorry for Mrs Clifton after every 20 pages. Still, I loved Old Jack’s and Duke Wellington’s character (I have a thing for old people, I guess). They were very less characters I liked, probably because it felt that the primary focus of this book was the setting and the overall storyline, not the individual characters (I didn’t mind). “Clifton, in life you get what you deserve, no more and certainly no less.”įor a book that had so many characters and storylines, it was fairly easy to follow.
